Steam Powered Giraffe

I suppose you may be confused as to what the title of this post could mean, but it's actually the name of a band. In my opinion, they are the best band ever. And I mean ever. I stumbled upon them one night when I was looking around the Internet. The first song I heard was "Honeybee," which is a really slow, sweet song. When I first saw one of their videos, though, I was actually really confused. I was confused because they looked like this:

They dress up like automatons. They're also comedians, they pantomime, and they're super instrumental. They all have stage names, too. There's Rabbit, The Spine, and Hatchworth (who's actually the newest member of the band and not even in the picture above). I instantly fell in love with their uniqueness and their forays into extremely different styles of music. They seem a bit crazy, but they're actually geniuses. Wacky, hilarious geniuses.

Their music is like candy for my ears. They're extremely good live, which is really hard to find in performers these days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF2K50oPeVs). They were actually street performers at one point in California, and though they've lost and gained members over the years, they are still just as hilarious and awesome.

The instruments they play are also fantastic. One played the mandolin at one point, Rabbit plays the melodica, and they play normal instruments, too, like guitars, the bass guitar, and the drums. Their pantomiming is also fantastic, and they're super good at acting like robots. Their comedy includes puns (which are pretty cheesy), observational humor, and just the ridiculous things they say. They're amazing, funny, creative, and unique. I sincerely recommend that you and everyone you know check them out. I honestly don't think there are any bands as wonderful as Steam Powered Giraffe out there. There may be bands like them, but none quite as good. This band deserves to be famous, as famous as Justin Bieber or Brittany Spears. So listen to their music, and even if you don't like it, appreciate the fact that they are different from all the junk on the radio nowadays. If I were to rate them, I would give them like a nine billion out of ten, which would just break my scale, so I'll refrain from doing that.
