Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus

This post contains spoilers about the film "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus."

Many people belive that Barbie movies are lame. They think they're poorly written, poorly animated, and poorly cast. Well, I'm here to tell you that I found a Barbie movie to be hilarious and surprisingly, not that terrible. "Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus" seems like it would be a ridiculous movie about friendship and love and sappy stuff like that. And it was. But it was also a Barbie movie. For a Barbie movie to catch my attention, it has to be pretty decent (sure, I like "My Little Pony," but that's different...).

The movie was about a princess named Annika that loves to ice skate and pretty much only cares about herself at the beginning of the movie. She likes to yell at her parents that they don't understand her when they forbid her from leaving the castle. An evil man-witch (warlock) named Wenlock comes from the sky riding on a griffon and turns the entire kingdom to stone, except for Annika who is saved by a pegasus that swoops out of nowhere. It just so happens that the pegasus is her sister, Brietta, who was turned into a pegasus years ago by the evil warlock guy. They stay at the Cloud Kingdom where the Cloud Queen tells them that they have to find a "wand of light" to break the curse. They go on adventures to find the pieces of the wand, they meet a "hot" guy named Aidan, and they eventually turn Brietta back into a human. Eventually, Annika breaks the curse, falls in love with Aidan, and lives happily ever after ice skating in the Cloud Kingdom. The end.

Sure, there were some ridiculous parts in this movie, but overall, it was decent for a Barbie film. The acting in Barbie movies isn't actually even as bad as people think it is. I think the fact that it is animated makes it easier on the actors. There were bloopers in the end, though. Bloopers. They were, obviously, fake as the scenes needed to be animated. They were probably the cheesiest part of the entire movie. The rest of it was decent.

The plot was all right, too. It seems a bit overdone to have a girl mess everything up and put her family in danger, and then she has to go on a journey to find something to free them and falls in love along the way. This movie deviated from that a bit, though. The fact that her sister was a magical flying horse was a huge twist for me, and there really weren't that many romantic scenes between Barbie and her love interest throughout the movie.

So, in conclusion, it wasn't the best movie ever, but it was good for a Barbie movie. I give it 5/10 and don't recommend it unless you like little girl movies.
