This theory actually holds true. Watching Pewdie play, it is not very scary, in fact, it is very funny. He swears a lot, usually in Swedish which is his native language, but his commentary in general is just hilarious. He makes quirky little remarks and talks to items in games that he is able to pick up. For example, in the game "Amnesia: The Dark Descent," Pewdie found a golden statue of a man with a sword that he could carry around and he named it Stephano. He talks to it and it "talks" back. When a friend first told me that he did this, I was skeptical that he would actually be funny. I thought it would simply be a creepy old man talking to his camera. He makes it work, though, and it works well.
Pewdie's fans are called "bros" and they are a wide variety of people that love to watch him scare himself on a daily basis. They are, for the most part, very supportive of him and his work and they help him out by giving him feedback and ideas for new games to play. Pewdie also has a weekly segment called "Fridays With Pewdiepie" where he usually addresses things going on with his fans and does contests and give-aways. Even these videos are funny. Pewdie manages to bring humor into most every video that he's ever done. He's also a genuinely good guy. He won some money in a competition and donated it all to WWF instead of simply keeping it for himself.
So, if you are a fan of horror games, or you are like me and don't want to be scared or watch/play them alone, you can watch Pewdiepie. He is a hilarious gamer and his many, many, many videos will keep you entertained for days.
Here is one of Pewdie's horror videos for Amnesia: The Dark Descent (and warning, there are swear words!!!):
