These coming months, people are campaigning harder than ever. They all want to reach the top, to get to the role that they have been working for since day one of their lives. They probably want it so bad they can almost taste it. It's election season and the candidates are rarin' to go. They all want to win, to be the very best (that no one ever was). Personally, though, I don't think either of these candidates are very good. Actually, I don't think any candidates are good, but one must be chosen.
Politicians are corrupt, and I really don't think anyone could argue that point. All they want is to further themselves. Many do not care about the welfare of the people or country. They just want money and power. Many of these people can't handle the power. They let it go to their head, and then they use it to oppress people and disrupt equality (think Andrew Jackson and his veto-craziness). So are there any good politicians out there?
Probably not. How do you chose someone to run the country when all of those that want to are corrupt? The answer is that you must chose the lesser of two evils (they're not really evil, these things just happen sometimes). You have to chose the candidate whose policies will benefit more people in the long run, and the one who you believe will lead you better. They're called Commander in Chief for a reason. The titles imply that they are commanding a body of people and trying to satisfy everyone.
Politicians can't come through with everything they promised when they wanted to get elected into office. They don't keep their promises, but I imagine that sometimes these promises are just too difficult or controversial to keep. Sure, they may try and say that they are working on it, but I imagine that about half of everything said during election season is just a lie to get you to vote one way or the other.
I guess what I've been trying to say throughout this whole paper is: stop the fighting. Everyone just needs to take a chill pill and stick to their own beliefs. Why should they have to justify it to anyone else? That's for the presidential candidates to do. I know my views are probably terrible and I'll get ripped apart by someone, but I just don't think this politics business is all it's cracked up to be.
