Autumn

Pumpkin pie, mugs of steaming hot chocolate, warm blankets, and cool nights. These elements make up my absolute favorite season of the year. It's the time of year that I just like to do nothing but curl up on the couch with a good book while it rains or the wind blows outside. Watching a good movie is always fun, as well. There are drawbacks to every season, though, and fall is no exception (no matter how perfect I think it is!).

As I said before, it is windy and rainy during the fall season. The wind makes for very cold mornings. For example, this morning would've been a decent temperature had the wind not been blowing. It makes everything about ten degrees colder outside. The rain, too, freezes everything and makes you chilled to the bone. Together, they make for horrendous weather. This is what makes it so great to be indoors during fall. The indoors is my favorite place to be. I don't like going outside unless I really have to or want to, which is very rare.

Watching movies and reading books during the storms and the chilliness is the perfect way to spend an evening. You can even hang out with friends during this season. When it is dry outside, you can rake the leaves into a huge pile and play in them. Like winter snow, fall leaves are something to be savored and played with no matter what your age is. Although I do not like going outside, I make an exception when the leaves are newly fallen and crunch under my feet when I walk somewhere.

Fall food has got to be the best food ever. Pumpkin everything, from pie to coffee, caramel apples, candy corn, and eggnog (at least at the end of the fall). Put it in front of me and I will eat it. This was what made fall my favorite time of the year to begin with. The delicious food, rich in flavor and sugar, made me want it to be fall every day of the year. Autumn is also the beginning of seasonal hot drinks at coffee shops. Pumpkin spice lattes are even better on a cool fall day walking around crunching leaves or staying in to see a movie.

Many people abhor fall because they see it as the beginning of the end of the year, which means one thing: snow. People hate snow, and because it sometimes snows in fall, people automatically hate the season by association. Fall itself, though, contains no snow, and even if the calendar says it is still fall, if it snows it is winter.

I love fall, and I hope that people share my love of the food, the activities, and just the general atmosphere of the season. Also, get yourself a pumpkin spice latte because they're delicious!
