Imagine... Dragons?

I decided to do another song this week rather than a movie because I found a great song that sparked my interest. It is called "It's Time" by Imagine Dragons (I just love that name). Let me start off by saying that this song is not just lyrically wonderful, but also has a good tune and a decent lead singer, which seems to be a bit rare these days.

The story idea seems very valid. This song appears to be someone in the band's life. Maybe it was a rough patch they were going through. One of the first lines in the song is "I'm giving the academy a rest." Maybe this is a reference to one of them dropping out of school or something similar to that.

It could be that someone in the lyric writer's life was trying to get them to change their ways, but they did not want to change for them. They want to stay the same, but the person pushing them has pushed too hard and they realize that they do not ever want to change themselves. The person that has pushed them also appears to have fallen, and maybe they just want what they think is best for the writer. The writer, however, does not believe this is so. When someone pushes you to be better, you can't shove them back. If you really think it is for the best that you not be pushed, you must tell them this. If they really care about your growth and development as a human being, then they will allow you to stay as you are. But if you know that you need that extra push, you have to take their comments and use them to help you shape your life for the better.

The lines about the roads, "the path to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell," and "this road never looked so lonely," could mean that the writer feels as though he is alone in a frightening place, that no one is around to help him anymore. He may have snapped and told off all the people that were trying to help him in his life. This perhaps could have been avoided if he had just accepted the other person's help or explained to them how and why he did not need it. However, the other person may not have accepted it and just kept on pushing him for the rest of his life until he sent them away.

Semi-gloomy lyrics aside, this is a wonderful song that I really think you all should check out. Thanks for reading my blog!
